Resellers gain access to wider range of data centre infrastructure and power
management solutions to help them build next generation datacentres
London, United Kingdom (12 April 2012) – Raritan, a leading innovator of power management, infrastructure management, KVM and serial solutions for data centres, today announced an agreement in the UK and Ireland with COMPUTERLINKS UK, the next generation distributor of IT security and Internet technology solutions. The agreement means that Raritan’s Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solutions, including remote access, power and serial monitoring, are now available for all channel partners to deliver, irrespective of their size, as they work with clients to build out their next generation data centres.
The increasing demand for new and more powerful IT-based applications combined with the economic benefits of consolidating physical assets has led to an unprecedented growth of data centres and with them the demand for tools such as DCIM. Gartner predicts that DCIM tools will soon become mainstream in data centres, growing from one per cent penetration in 2010 to sixty per cent in 2014.
“With space and power now at a premium and the task of managing large data centres becoming increasingly complex, DCIM tools are a vital part of giving IT managers greater visibility of their data centre assets,” said David Ellis, director of new technology and services at COMPUTERLINKS. “By partnering with Raritan and offering our partners pioneering asset, power and energy management solutions, we can help make the growing data centre solutions market accessible to even more resellers.”
The agreement is the latest addition to COMPUTERLINKS’ next generation data centre strategy: a portfolio of tools and solutions designed to support channel partners as they work with data centre and IT managers to understand and consider an emerging and potentially complex technology landscape.
The agreement means that resellers will now be able to include Raritan’s total DCIM, keyboard-video-mouse over IP (KVM) and intelligent power and energy management solutions in their portfolio when advising clients on how best to build and manage a cost-effective data centre. These solutions include:
- dcTrack® to provide real-time information on facilities, networks and IT
- Asset Management Tags and Asset Management Sensors to give data centre operators accurate, automated real-time inventory of all IT assets and their locations
- EMX Smart Rack Controller to allow use of any of Raritan’s sensors such as temperature and humidity, energy or asset management solutions
- Raritan’s Dominion® suite of enterprise-class secure KVM-over-IP switches that provide access and control to servers over LAN, WAN, Internet or dialup connections
- The Raritan family of intelligent rack power distribution units (iPDUs) that focus on environment and power metering, monitoring and management
- Raritan‘s Power IQ® vendor-agnostic energy management solution that allows data centre managers to baseline, monitor and report energy usage and environmental conditions at any level – data centre, rack, department, equipment type – from a user configurable centralised dashboard
Full details of how resellers can benefit from partnering with Raritan will be outlined at a COMPUTERLINKS Channel Event to be held at London’s iconic Gherkin (formerly The Swiss Re building) on 17th April 2012.
“Organisations are under increasing pressure to find better ways to manage their complex IT resources and infrastructure,” explained Stuart Hopper, Raritan vice president of sales and marketing, Europe and Africa. “The channel plays a key role in achieving this cost-effectively and COMPUTERLINKS’ global network, coupled with its experience and expertise will ensure that resellers have the support they need to do this quickly and profitably.”
DCIM, power and energy management, virtual appliances, performance management, server protection and recovery, WAN optimisation, desktop management, storage, security and compliance are all components of the evolving next generation data centre, which is bringing new opportunities for margin-rich services and technology-based revenues to the channel.
