Capelle aan den IJssel (7 September 2010 ) -- Raritan, a proven innovator of power management, infrastructure management, KVM and serial solutions for datacenters, has appointed rack manufacturer Rentron as its new channel partner in Greece and Cyprus.
Rentron SA was established in 1979 and today is one of the biggest Greek companies that is specialized in the design and construction of precise metal parts and rack cabinets. The company will now also offer Raritan’s rack power management solutions as an add-on to its existing solutions.
Both the Dominion® PX and Power IQ® product families, as well as Raritan’s environmental sensors to monitor humidity and temperature in the rack, will enable datacenter/facility managers to control their power provisioning and ultimately reduce energy consumption.
“Through our build-to-order (BTO) program for racks and enclosures we could already meet special market requirements. With the addition of Raritan’s intelligent power distribution units (PDUs) and power management software we have extended our offering to meet the demands of the upcoming European legislation that will force organizations to run energy efficient datacenters” says Christos Minos, Commercial Director at Rentron.
Newly built datacenters tend to have an average lifespan of at least 8-10 years, which why it is important datacenter and facility managers carefully look at their choice of rack PDUs when installing new outfits. Questions that should be asked are whether or not power can be measured at individual outlet level and whether or not there is a need to remotely power cycle devices connected to the power strip. The new partnership will enable Rentron to play an important role in this area and help their customers in running a more energy efficient datacenter.
